Donald Opatrny
Donald Opatrny has experienced first hand the challenges of running a multi-generational family business. As the leader of a start-up design/manufacturing firm, Don was involved in every aspect of the business: initial concept, business plan, product development, staffing, employee training, payroll, supplier negotiations, marketing, sales, distribution and customer relations. In the third year of operations, Don's company was featured on ABC's Good Morning America. After a decision to sell the family business, Don had successes in two more firms before turning his career direction toward his life-long interest in understanding family dynamics and helping people develop more peaceful and satisfying relationships.
Don is now a family business consultant and a licensed psychotherapist in private practice. He holds a Master of Family Therapy degree and has extensive post-graduate training in a variety of proven methods for relieving the most common forms of distress with individuals, couples, families and organizations. In this arena, he has demonstrated the ability to effectively guide people through very difficult times and to resolve seemingly dire situations. Clients repeatedly report experiencing new hope, even after brief encounters. After clients have achieved their goals, they often express gratitude that their concerns were addressed maturely, in an atmosphere of support, courage, creativity, and mutual respect.
Don is a clinical member of the American Association of Marriage and Family Therapy and a member of the Board of Directors of the Connecticut Association of Marriage and Family Therapy (CTAMFT). He is currently serving as the chairman of the CTAMFT Technology Committee, and as a leader of the task force for reorganization of the Board's structure and governance. In 2009, he spearheaded the implementation of the Board's first long-range strategic planning initiative.
Don is also a member of the International Systemic Constellation Association (ISCA). Together with the world's leading ISCA practitioners, Don has developed an expertise in working with the hidden dynamics behind many family business difficulties. This revolutionary modality brings relief, restores hope, and brings new options in difficult business situations, even when other consulting methods have failed.
He is a husband, father, amateur wine maker, sculptor, and stone wall enthusiast. |
