Letters from our clients

Please accept this letter of sincere thanks for the time you spent working with my mother and me recently. After working together for nearly 15 years, it was a wonderful opportunity to have some frank discussions regarding our family business.

There came a point in our relationship where our habits and attitudes were starting to get in the way of moving the business forward. After some research on the internet, we learned of your services. We took a chance that a meeting with you would give us some tools with which to get our organization and our relationship to the next level.

Admittedly, we were apprehensive about our meeting. Not being ones to speak about our "feelings", we weren't sure what to expect. My mother and I were so pleased  that within our first meeting it became clear that after years of working together everyday, we needed a chance to recreate a fresh start. When it came to discussing problems and strategizing for the future, each of us was given an arena to dismantle our preconceived notions about the other. Ultimately, these were the things hindering both our success and happiness.

Dr. Lovins, we couldn't be more grateful that we followed your advice, followed through with all our meetings and to this day are able to approach challenging situations with a fresh perspective. My mother and I are best friends, and after spending time with you, we have become best business partners as well.

Dr Lovins has guided our family as we have confronted a number of family business challenges over the last ten years. Building a supportive relationship with my husband, the company's founder and myself, Alan helped us to appreciate the value of uniqueness of our family business, how we might begin to plan for its future growth, development and continuation and, or possibly to choose an alternative route as we contemplated an eventual exit strategy.

In our family, a second generation member willing to step up and run the business was already on board to accept the challenge. Assisted by Alan's support and guidance, together we make this, at times, very painful transition. Our family is grateful for Alan's past and continuing help in focusing our awareness of and appreciation for family business values and for the support he continues to provide to help us build on those to strengthen both our family and the business.
