Katie holds a Ph.D. in Organizational Behavior from the University of the West of England, a Masters in Coaching and Consulting for Change from INSEAD business school, and an MA in History from Cambridge University. She was recently a Research Fellow at the Harvard Kennedy School of Government, Women, and Public Policy Program. At INSEAD she trained with Dr. Randel Carlock, founding academic director of the Wendel International Centre for Family Enterprise and one of the world’s leading experts on family businesses. She also trained in psychotherapy at The Tavistock Institute in London. Her primary research focuses on women’s leadership and family businesses. Her long practitioner career spans global executive roles (including at the C suite level), primarily in investment banking, and in international business consulting to a wide range of industries. She is deeply experienced in culture change and leadership development, and helped global investment banks recover from the aftermath of 9/11 and the Global Financial Crisis. At The Lovins Group, Dr. Beavan is responsible for conducting primary research on family businesses and supporting client projects.
